Hollow Shafts & Motor Shafts

Overview

Hollow shafts and motor shafts machined to customer drawings for motors, pumps, gearboxes and drive assemblies. Hollow variants are bored through or part-way to reduce weight and allow cabling or coolant routing, while motor shafts are produced to fit the rotor, bearings and output coupling of the unit they serve.

Process & Delivery

For motor shafts the critical items are usually the bearing journals, the rotor seat and the output fit, so these are machined with the datum chain in mind and checked against the mating parts where drawings allow. Hollow shafts are bored with the bore concentric to the outer diameter to keep running clearances consistent.
